Fleets of Self-Driving Cars Take To The Streets
Until recently, driverless cars were a thing of science fiction. Google developers have taken the self-driving car to the next level, and we are now seeing taxi-cabs on our roads sporting bulky sensor platforms mounted on car roofs. A recent study is showing glowing figures and suggests the adoption of self-driving cars could reduce traffic accidents by a staggering ninety percent. The driverless industry still puts Google at the forefront of the technology, however, you should expect to see more Uber cars as they already have a global user base. Many fear that the concept is being rushed and not enough research has been made. Testing is proven, but only in perfect driving conditions. It is not yet known how the driverless vehicles will perform on a busy street at night during heavy rain or icy road conditions. On paper, the self-drive systems actually outperform a human, but as more and more vehicles populate the streets, the statistics might start telling a different story.
